Vision Projects

Write the vision. Make it plain.

Citylight Church doesn't think small, because we serve an unlimited God. We publish this page so anyone can see what we're planning as we grow and move toward the future, and how your giving can make an impact for the Kingdom of God.

Why We Give

When you give, ministry happens.

Every gift does something. It's a child learning about Jesus in our kids ministry. It's groceries on a neighbor's table. It's a teenager picking up an instrument to lead worship, someone far from God finding a seat on Sunday, and buildings that make room for all of it.

Your giving carries the whole work of this church, every week. This page shows you where we're headed next. As giving grows, these projects get done, and when something can't wait, like water coming through the roof, we take care of it first. You'll see each project marked done right here as it's finished.

Pragmatic Projects

As giving grows, these get done.

These are practical needs. The plans are ready, and what each one needs now is funding. As our giving increases, we'll check them off one by one.

Foyer

Foyer Refresh

$10,000

A lighter, brighter first impression: fresh paint, new baseboards, natural wood and greenery, so the space feels bigger and matches our kids areas. We already have most of the materials.

Projected: February 2027, ready for Easter

Grounds

New Church Sign

$49,500

The sign out front has never worked the way it should, which is why banners keep getting hung on it. A new sign would show who we're becoming and tell everyone driving by that something good is happening here.

Building

Stop the Roof Leaks

$9,350

This fixes every leak we know about and replaces the screws across our whole metal roof, so water stays out of the building.

Auditorium

Finish the Auditorium

$50,600

The stage, sound, lighting, LED screen, curtains and video production are done. These last three pieces finish the room you see in the rendering.

  • Paint the rest of the room $8,800
  • New carpet $13,200
  • New chairs $28,600

Grounds

Landscaping

$7,700

Shrubs, flower beds and a full cleanup around the building. A well-kept property shows Saraland that we care, and it might inspire our neighbors to step up their game too.

Event Center

Update the Event Center

$24,970

Our teenagers meet here on Wednesday nights, and Legacy Builders, our senior adults, meet here on Sunday mornings. The paint, lights, sound and TVs in this room are all out of date.

  • Paint and LED panel lighting $2,200
  • Sound system (also our portable event sound) $15,400
  • TVs $2,750
  • Event tables and trash cans $4,620
A teenager learning to play electric guitar

Youth

Youth Worship Band

$5,500

Teenagers need a place to start serving in worship music. Keyboards, a bass, drum repairs and microphones would give our youth ministry a live worship band of its own.

A blue electric scissor lift

Equipment

Scissor Lift

$11,000

Right now we can't reach the lights and equipment in the auditorium ceiling. With our own lift, we can take care of the room we just built and handle outside repairs we can't reach today.

Sunday worship seen from the back of the auditorium

Media

Global Media Upgrades

$66,000

Our messages already reach people around the world. Next, we want to capture worship as well as we capture the preaching, for the livestream and for posting. That takes more cameras and equipment. As our reach grows, more people around the world can partner with what God is doing here.

Seven outdoor air conditioning units beside the buildingToday

Building

Air Conditioning Fund

$11,000

Our air conditioning units need repairs again and again. Money set aside for them means a unit can be fixed the day it goes down, not weeks later.

Shelves stocked with canned food and boxes for Neighbor Boxes

Outreach

2027 Neighbor Box Fund

$25,000

Neighbor Boxes are how we feed people in our community who need a hand up. Starting November 22, boxes go out every Sunday from 12 to 1 PM in our church lobby, no sign-up needed and no strings attached. This fund keeps food on those shelves all through 2027.

Outreach

Bus Ministry

$60,000

We get asked all the time whether we offer a ride. There are people in our community who would come to church if they had a way to get here. A church bus lets us pick them up every week, so they can hear the gospel in a place where they're welcome, and maybe even share a hot meal with us.

Next Generation

Make Summer Camp Free

$20,000

Camp is a vital experience for young believers. It's a time to consecrate themselves in the presence of the Lord, where many kids and teenagers receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and are called to ministry. The cost of camp has climbed over the years, through no fault of the camps or their directors. We want every young person in our church to be able to go to camp for free.

Clean Slate

First Assembly Obligations

$12,100

Some bills from past years were never settled. We're settling them. Citylight is building something new, and part of building well is clearing what was left undone. As we keep putting things in order, more may turn up, and we'll take care of those too.

Help check these off.

Faith Projects

Big enough that God has to do it.

While these projects would be wonderful and useful improvements for our church today, they're so large that they will require the supernatural hand of God to start. As a church, we're praying for a supernatural increase in our finances that moves us into the realm of this being possible.

A New Front Entrance and Courtyard

$403,178

Our courtyard is a blank canvas right now. We see a welcoming place to gather on the way in, with patio seating and coffee, used for small groups, Bible studies, youth and young adult nights. From the road, it changes how our whole church looks.

  • New concrete, awning, storefront doors and windows, and underground gutters
  • The Event Center gets its own storefront entrance, new flooring and paint
  • The Event Center can host events while the rest of the building stays closed
  • It becomes a second foyer, so you don't have to walk through the auditorium to get across the building

Next Generation

A New Kids Ministry Building

$929,500

We just renovated our kids spaces, and they're full of life. This is the bigger vision: 5,400 square feet off the back of our children's area, with two large rooms, so every age has room to grow.

  • A giant indoor play area for all our kids
  • A large elementary room, so every child is in one place behind one secure check-in
  • Teenagers move up to the Loft for youth ministry
  • Middle schoolers worship with the church on Sunday, then go to a middle school experience for the message

Foyer and Restrooms

Room to Welcome Everyone

$700,425

Our foyer is small and our ladies' restroom is smaller. This project opens up the front of the church for the growth God is sending.

  • The foyer expands into what are now the offices
  • The kids check-in hallway widens from about 4 feet to about 10, so families can come and go at the same time, ready for two services
  • A new ladies' restroom, bigger than both of today's restrooms combined
  • Today's two restrooms become one large men's restroom
  • A nursing mothers room in the new layout

Parking

Parking Lot Rebuild and Expansion

$363,000

Not a patch job. We tear out the front lot and build it new, with more spaces for the people God is bringing.

Believe God with us for these.

Future Development

Room to grow.

With 20 acres of property, the opportunity to develop and build is wide open. None of this is for today, even if the money showed up tomorrow. But we're planning like a church that's going to keep growing. We don't need a new auditorium today, but we know where it's going to be. We don't need a wedding chapel today, but we know where one can go. As God keeps adding to this church, we want to be ready to build what the next generation will need.
